Every person is different, with different genetics, body type, culture and environment. All of these factors can have a big impact on what the "correct" diet is for each of us. Some people do best on a low-carb diet while others may do fine on a vegetarian high-carb diet. The fact is, what works for one person may not work for the next. At Vivacity, we want you to live the best life possible in every aspect. You can live vibrantly and feel better than you ever have. What we are guiding you through, is a lifestyle revolution that will transform you and help you realize your true vivacious potential. Here are some things to know that will help you eat in a healthy way.

Omega-3 Fats Are Crucial and Most People Don’t Get Enough

It is kind of sad but true that a good portion of our brains are made from fat. What's good is that eating the right kind of fats is necessary for a healthy body and vital for proper brain function. An omega-3 fatty acid called DHA makes up almost half of the polyunsaturated fats in our brain and being deficient in omega-3's is very, very common in the modern United States. This deficiency can lead to a lower IQ, depression, various mental disorders, heart disease and many other serious disease.

The best source of omega-3's are, for technical reasons, animal sources such as fish, grass-fed beef (or other meats), omega-3 enriched (pastured) eggs, or fish oil. So, next time someone calls you a fat-head, let it be a compliment, because your head if full of smart fat!

Eating Vegetables Will Improve Your Health

As your mother has told you a million times, vegetables are good for you. They are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and an endless variety of other healthy trace nutrients that she knows about, but that science has just begun to uncover. In countless studies, eating vegetables is associated with improved health and a lower risk of a whole list of diseases. They are healthy, fulfilling and add variety to your diet. Listen to your mom.

Vitamin D- The Sunshine Vitamin

Since the beginning of time, humans have gotten all the vitamin D that is needed from the sun, at the expense of getting skin cancer. Now, in our modern world, we have SPF-50,000 sunscreen and many of us work, play and live indoors much of the time. As has been advised, wear your sunscreen, but now we need to increase our dietary intake of vitamin D, but getting dietary vitamin D in sufficient amounts is extremely difficult. So, the best thing to do is to take a supplement such as Vivacity REPLENISH, which is full to the brim with excellent vitamins and minerals, including liquid sunshine, vitamin D. The best way to know if you have inadequate levels of vitamin D is to have your doctor test your blood.

Unprocessed Food is Healthiest

Processing food means that you boil it at high heat, smash it with a machine, subject it to chemicals, make it prettier for consumers and more profitable, or cheaper in some way to produce, again, for more profit. This processing is pretty much necessary in the modern United States to feed everyone, but you, personally don't have to participate in this health destroying tendency.

During food processing, many of the beneficial nutrients of food is removed or destroyed. Not only are healthy nutrients like fiber removed, but other very harmful ingredients like added sugars, trans fats, refined wheat, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors and flavors are added. These are loaded with all sorts of artificial chemicals that have absolutely NOT been proven to be safe for long term human consumption.

We weren't sure whether to put this section first or last. We would put it first because eating "real" food is the most important thing you can do for your health. But, we ended up putting it last, so that it will be the last thing you read here, and therefore it might have more of an impact. Either way, we hope you have chosen to make a healthy, permanent change in the way you are getting your nutrition and start living vivaciously!
